  Season 2: Spring in the French Alps

Spring in the French Alps

3 For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground;
I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.
4 They will spring up like grass in a meadow, like poplar trees by flowing streams.

Isaiah 44:1-4

In the mountains, Spring comes almost abruptly and is rather short, it is a very busy season with changes happening quickly, and on a variety of levels, interiorly but also in the garden, in the village, in the valley. Not only we seem to go from fields of snow to little flowers bursting opened all around us, with grass getting greener and thicker by the day, but before we know it, it will be Summer! Spring is the time to enjoy this change of season, to start thinking of life after cold and snow, to make plans and prepare for new activities, which is brought by this joyful Spring and its varied renewals. And it is time to get ready for the glorious - and very busy tourists-wise - Season of Summer in the Alps!

The Resurrection is both paradoxically the goal and the way of the Christian life. The preparation of this mega event is Lent, with Holy Week being, year after year, such a powerful moment in every journey of faith. Entire books have been written, and homilies prayed for and prepared, contemplative meditations attempted, and very concrete acts of charity spread around, all filled with hope and trust and love, both privately and publicly, all of these expressions of the change to come which is embodied by the Resurrection of Christ! Easter is the moment where we can touch the hem of Eternal life, it is a most formative changeover, an amazing opportunity for a complete renewal of our own energy and where we wish to apply them to, it is this most resourceful conversion moment of our soul and heart, body and mind!
